ANSWERS

How do I pay? ^Top

Whether your laptop is repaired or returned to you unrepaired Main Computer Systems Limited will take payment from you when the laptop is ready to leave our premises. A member of our Finance Department will call you personally and payment is usually made by Credit Card or by cheque, unless by prior agreement. Proof of payment must be made prior to the laptop leaving our premises. Every customer is provided with a full VAT invoice which is attached to the Packing Slip.

Will I lose all my data? ^Top

In 90% of cases the answer is no. It's usually NOT the hard disk at fault but some other component that has failed. If possible, we always recommend that you back up your data before shipping the computer back to us however.

In those instances where the hard disk has failed data recovery may still be possible but this can be quite time consuming, will carry additional cost and cannot ever be guaranteed to be 100% successful. If you are concerned about the loss of valuable data please ensure that you have discussed this with us before shipping your computer back to us. We will do everything we can to help.

The estimate itself costs nothing. If we need to inspect your computer in order to provide you with an estimate then we will even collect your computer from you free of charge.

We appreciate that you may not wish to have your computer repaired if the repair proves uneconomical. If you decide not to go ahead with the repair once you have the estimate, then you will be asked to pay for the return carriage costs - £25 plus VAT anywhere in the UK. Where an estimate for repair has been declined there is a labour charge of £15 plus VAT.  We hope you will agree that this is fair and reasonable.

How long will it take to get an estimate? ^Top

Not long at all! We will provide you with an estimate within 3-5 working days of collection - and often much sooner.

What will it cost to get an estimate? ^Top

The estimate itself costs nothing. If we need to inspect your computer in order to provide you with an estimate then we will even collect your computer from you free of charge. Return carriage is charged at £ 25.00 + VAT on all unrepaired / repaired items.

We appreciate that you may not wish to have your computer repaired if the repair proves uneconomical. If you decide not to go ahead with the repair once you have the estimate, then you will be asked to pay for the return carriage costs - £25 plus VAT anywhere on the UK mainland. Where an estimate for repair has been declined there may be  a labour charge of £15 plus VAT.  We hope you will agree that this is fair and reasonable.

The only other cost you may incur is for packaging materials - if you require us to provide specialist packaging materials for you because you have discarded your own.

What happens if I decline or do NOT respond to the estimate? ^Top

Of course not everyone proceeds with the repair for a variety of reasons. If you decline the estimate then the laptop will be returned to you unrepaired for a cost of £ 25+VAT. Where an estimate for repair has been declined there may be a labour charge of £15+VAT.

If however you do not respond to our request for the Approval of the Estimate and we are unable to either contact you by telephone or e mail then after a period of 90 days from the sending of the Estimate for Approval the laptop will become the property of Main Computer Systems Limited and may either be sold  or used for other purposes.

I've filled out the collection form, what happens now? ^Top

Thank you for completing a request for collection. We appreciate the opportunity to do business with you. Here's what you can expect to happen now...

Upon receipt of the e mail at our Repair Centre we will endeavour to contact you by telephone or e-mail to acknowledge receipt of your request and to discuss the requirements that you have.

The Collection Form details a preferred collection day and time and whilst this cannot be guaranteed we will endeavour to meet your needs. Collection of your laptop is carried out by a U K based courier service so it is imperative that your laptop is packaged securely to avoid any accidental damage. Whilst it will be covered by the Courier's Liability Cover it is imperative that everything is done to minimise the risk of damage or loss.

You will be given a unique Collection Reference number which we ask is clearly displayed on the packaging prior to collection by the Couriers. This unique number is also your point of reference should you need to call us on any matter regarding your laptop.

Your machine will be delivered to our Repair Centre in Basingstoke (usually next day) where it will be subject to examination at the Goods In stage.

An estimate for the full cost of repair and the time it is likely to take will be provided to you , usually by e mail , fax or telephone within 3 - 5 working days of receipt. Once you receive the estimate of repair you will either decide to proceed with the repair or have the machine returned to you at a cost of £ 25.00 + VAT for the return carriage.

If the machine is to be repaired then we will advise you when the repair is completed, receive the appropriate payment, usually by Credit Card or Cheque and return the repaired item to you.

What do I have to return with my computer? ^Top

In every instance we ask that you provide us with your Windows password, the AC adaptor for your computer and any Operating System disks/ CDs (usually Microsoft Windows) and licence keys you have.

Due to strict licensing laws, we cannot re-install Operating Systems if you do not provide us with your original licence details and media. If you have lost your Operating System media or details we will of course be happy to provide a replacement set at very competitive prices.

What about packaging? ^Top

We appreciate you may have long ago discarded the packaging that accompanied your notebook computer. Don't worry though... Should you wish, we can provide the packaging you need that will ensure that your computer reaches us undamaged and is returned to you in the same fashion.

What warranty do you give? ^Top

Main Computer Systems Limited give a standard 90 day warranty on all work and parts. Should your laptop have to be returned to us, with our agreement because we have not rectified the original fault, then we will repair it under our warranty programme providing the fault is related to or the direct result of our original repair. We will collect it, repair it, and deliver it back at no cost to yourself.

Note... Should you have disposed of the packaging that your laptop was returned in and require us to send you a box then a charge of £7.50+VAT will be levied for this service.

If my repair is urgent can the service be made even faster? ^Top

Our standard service is typically a 7-10 working day turnaround from collection to repair. A fast-track service is available at additional charge upon request. Please call for further details.
